A boxer is the best conditioned athlete in the world bar
none. Boxing, whether for competition or solely for
recreational purposes, provides the most rounded and well
balanced workout you will ever find. When taught properly
with solidly grounded fundamentals and in a progressive type
manner, such as we teach at Bellafatto's Boxing &
Fitness Academy Inc., it will provide you with the utmost in
cardiovascular fitness, as well as develop strength, speed,
and agility at levels you may not have thought possible
before, no matter your present age or physical condition.
Our boxing program will also bring you the ultimate in peace
of mind through its phenomenal stress reduction aspects,
which you will find lacking from all other types of
workouts. Because our workout utilizes more muscle groups
than any other single motion type workout, such as cycling
or jogging, it tends to result in fewer repetitive injuries
or strains. In an hour of boxing a 180 pound man can burn
more than 500 calories. With a solid fundamental base and a
little motivation, you too can receive the full benefits and
phenomenal results a good boxing program can provide,
whether it is for purposes of competition, or you just want
to come in and hit the bags. When fitness comes first, the
rest is easy.
Bellafatto's Boxing & Fitness Academy Inc., is a 501(c)
(3) non profit public charitable organization located in
Redwood Shores California, approximately 20 miles south of
San Francisco just off of highway 101. Our facility is also
a USA Boxing Inc. affiliated boxing club which prepares
individuals for amateur, and/or professional competition.
Additionally we provide a non contact recreational program
that features skills development, as well as cardiovascular
& overall fitness conditioning to members of the general
public. Our facility is a professional quality converted
residence which hosts all the necessary training equipment
found in a traditional boxing gym, to include a variety of
heavy bags which assist an individual in developing power,
strength, leverage, and timing. A heavy bag workout also
provides the ultimate in a total body cardiovascular fitness
type workout. Our inventory includes top professional super
leather training bags from 50-150 lbs., as well as angle
bags and two different types of uppercut bags in order to
facilitate comprehension and execution of angular striking
technique. We also host an array of light bags which assist
in the development of hand eye coordination, as well as
timing, rhythm, balance, head movement, and defensive
mobility. Our light bag inventory consists of a top
professional speed bag with an adjustable platform for
students of different heights, varied single double end bags
from weighted and non weighted, to Mexican and double double
end style bags to allow for body & head combination
striking. Along with open floor space used for strength
training, we also boast the use of top quality conditioning
equipment also traditionally found in boxing gymnasiums,
such as dumbbells, barbells, medicine balls, stability
balls, jump ropes, strength bands, and other assorted
fitness apparatus which we utilize in conjunction with a
variety of boxing specific calisthenic and plyometric
training drills to get you in tip top shape. Remember,
boxers are the best conditioned athletes in the world, and
you will be too once you take that first step and get
started.
We are currently conducting non competitive, non contact
group training sessions twice weekly for members of the
general public to include men, women, and youth alike who
just want to learn fundamental boxing skills and get in the
best shape of their life. We also provide competition
training for our amateur team members 4-5 times weekly. All
class times are currently from 6:30pm-8pm. Please call or
email to confirm schedule as class training days vary from
week to week. Drop in classes are $5 per session. If you
have no prior experience then you must complete at a minimum
an initial half hour orientation training session by
appointment, which is usually held right before a group
session. The price is $25 for the half hour orientation.
This initial orientation session, which you arrange by
appointment, is necessary to familiarize beginners with
basic fundamental boxing concepts and technical drills and
exercises regularly used during our class, so that those
learned concepts and skills could be readily put into
practice as part of group training during our regular on
going sessions. Personal one on one training, also
available, is $60 per hour. In addition, you must also
purchase training gloves and handwraps which we sell for $35
if you do not have them already. For competitive members,
depending on financial status, gloves, handwraps, and other
necessary training equipment may be provided at no
cost.
For persons interested in training classes, following is
a beginning level class description; Start with varied warm
up activities and light flexibility. Learn fundamental
stance, directional footwork, and striking technique. Learn
to shadowbox combining foot work, head movement, and
striking technique, transferring skills to light and heavy
bags for a super cardio total body conditioning workout.
Further sharpen skills and increase stamina with the use of
punch mitt and punch shield floor workout routines.
Introduction to various calisthenic and plyometric exercises
followed by strength training with various gymnasium
equipment from dumbbells to medicine balls to strength bands
etc. Intermediate and advanced level technique and
conditioning drills are taught when students progress to
that level. Some example lessons for intermediate and
advanced level class workouts will consist of counter punch
drills with partners, interval training with high level
activity output followed by moderately paced activities, 2-6
rounds of non stop work out combining boxing skills with
conditioning exercises to develop breathing patterns, light
supervised sparring for those who wish to venture into the
ring, boxing specific core stability training exercises with
emphasis on speed, etc.
Training for amateur and professional level competition
is also provided by trainers Nick Bellafatto and Alfonso De
Lira, both member coaches of USA Boxing Inc. Many members of
the Bellafatto Boxing Academy team compete in USA Boxing
sanctioned invitational tournaments and local boxing club
competitions year round. This allows our boxers to increase
their skill level while building confidence and self esteem.
Members also participate annually in the San Francisco
Golden Gloves or Police Athletic League Tournaments with
opportunities to advance to regional and even national level
championships held in Oxnard California, Colorado Springs
Colorado, and other locations around the country. Our
ultimate goal at Bellafatto Boxing Academy is to provide the
community, youth and adults alike, a quality facility and
program to instill discipline, build confidence and self
esteem, and better overall physical condition to combat
coronary heart diseases, obesity, and other general related
illnesses. Our efforts are also aimed at enhancing mental
and spiritual awareness, promoting well being, and producing
better citizens.

Take Highway 101 to Holly St./ Redwood Shores Parkway
exit. Go East off exit which will become Redwood Shores
Parkway. Follow Redwood Shores Parkway about a mile to
Marlin Dr. and make a left on Marlin Dr. Make a right on
Davit and then a right on Anchor Circle. We are located half
way down the block on the right hand side at 524 Anchor
Circle.
